Hi and Welcome to the Forum! Thank you for being the first to chat here on the Forum. Yes, our G. Wayne Thomas is truly a Genius and I think he is the KING of Surf Music. His ability to create such feeling with his words, melodies and arrangements is a target most seem to miss. I'm thrilled you have ingrained this music into your children. It would have to be the most nourishing sounds they will hear in a long time - till the next time they listen to it again, and again and. . . . It will now be a 'musical mark in time' for them too now. Well done! Wayne has never understood the big fuss made of it. But then that is someone with no ego attached to it. I am proud to know that this Soundtrack of MOTE was the FIRST ever Australian Movie Soundtrack to go Gold. Then of course platinum and well, then it just lives in our hearts and psyche. Thanks again for being the brave one to have a first chat on the Forum. Yay!

First heard the album in the 70's when my brother who surfed played it. Loved the music then, still love it now. Was stoked to get it on CD and play it regularly. It brings back memopries of good times and always brings a smile to my face and a good frame of mind. G Wayne Thomas was a master in putting it together. Must admit though when I finally got to see the movie was dissapointed in some of the vission but still loved the music.

Iwas turned on to MOTE in 1988, by a fellow surfer and work colleague. we used to work shift, and go for a wave in the early mornings after work. He suggested on day we go watch "one of his brothers old surf videos" at his place. It was well worn & grainy, but those moments struck a chord in me that still rings today. Its not too much to say it had a profound effect on my life and my outlook of the world. I soon found by chance the soundtrack at Kmart,of all places. of course, I have them all now on cd & dvd, annd after years of search, a reasonably good example on vinyl, which I had always wanted to get hold of. I found not one but 2 copies of it in a record shop in Hobart of all places!! what a great day that was.
